Hallie Gage is in the midst of attempting to change her career, and having very little luck finding a steady job as a photographer. When one particularly bad job interview leaves her walking away dejected she is approached by a woman who says she has the answer to her problems….
Max Carlisle is in need of a date for a week with his family. When Hallie shows up as a possibility to play the role of devoted girlfriend, he is pleasantly surprised… and compellingly optimistic about her answer being yes.
When the week of pretending turns into all out insanity, Hallie and Gage embark on a billion dollar business fueled scavenger hunt where they learn to lean on each other to win the ultimate of prizes…
I loved the premise for this book. The scavenger hunt and feuding family were entertaining and a fun twist for a story.
Hallie is a strong woman who is following her dreams of being a professional photographer. She meets Max and believes she has him all figured out… aren’t all those playboy types always the same? I really liked how motivated she was to help Max with the scavenger hunt… even when he could care less about competing with his family.
Max… meh. He just didn’t come off as someone with much personality, and it drove me crazy how he seemed to basically just go along with what everyone else talked him into. With Hallie being such a strong character, I would have loved for Max to be someone who challenged her and added something more to their relationship.
While the writing was done well, it came off as a little rushed and I didn’t feel like I could get into the story that much as a result. But, all in all, the book was fun and different and I was happy to have read it.
