Lies (Web of Sin #2) by Aleatha Romig

3.5 Stars

*** Lies is book #2 in the Web of Sin trilogy, and must be read after reading Secrets to prevent spoilers. Please be aware this review may contain spoilers if you are not caught up in the series ***

Araneae’s life has changed considerably since meeting Sterling Sparrow. Now back in Chicago, her identity as Kennedy Hawkins needs to resume for the good of her business. But, her reality of still being the highly fabled Araneae McCrie presents an ongoing danger that Sterling refuses to lose focus from.

Sterling Sparrow is a man who protects what is his, and now that he has Araneae right where he wants her, he isn’t going to let anything dangerous get close to her… ever again.

Lies starts off with the cliffhanger that we were left with in complete suspense at the end of Secrets. Now that Sterling and Araneae are back in Chicago, the past is coming for them…

In this book the relationship between Sterling and Araneae has taken a back seat to the settling of their lives and the tension of more secrets coming to light. With a focus on them moving in together and returning to their work lives, their relationship has moved to a much more secure place. With more of the past unraveling chapter by chapter, Araneae gets closer to finding out who she really is…

I am still very invested in this story, but it was definitely missing the previous heat from Sterling and Araneae’s sex life. In fact, I felt like the sex scenes have been dialed back to a zero, but the story still showed some promise of (hopefully) a little more hot and dirty sex in Araneae’s future…

I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
