Lady Penelope Campion is an animal lover, devoted friend, and of course, a spinster. Unmarried and living with her menagerie of hopeless animals, Lady Penelope enjoys her quiet life out of the eye of London society. But when she meets her new next door neighbor, her uneventful life is about to be completely upended…

Gabriel Duke is a self made man who has earned the ominous moniker from London society labeling him the “Duke of Ruin.” But, growing up poor and with a disdain for the titled aristocracy, Gabriel only has one use for his wealthy foes… their valuable and highly levied assets…

The Wallflower Wager was a delightful burst of fresh air and comedic excellence from beginning to end. Penny and Gabriel’s connection was hilarious, sweet and delightfully sexy. And although they come from two different worlds, these two refreshingly honest characters have met their match, for better or for worse…

Penny was such an adorable character!! Her heart was so big and she thrived in showing her love to animals and humans alike. When she meets her new neighbor, Penny finds herself suffering from a dreadfully inconvenient attraction… or maybe… it is more convenient than she thought…

Gabriel was an utterly irresistible man, with a tough guy exterior that was completely useless in the presence of Penny. With the shadow of his childhood always lingering in the back of his mind, he is well aware that nothing good could come from being involved with a highborn lady who is as sweet as Penny… or as demanding…

This book is not your typical historical romance, and I absolutely loved it’s contemporary feel and it’s spicy sex scenes that rarely appear in most historical reads. Penny and Gabriel’s relationship was full of adventure and overcoming the obstacles of their completely different existences, all while providing a fun and fresh plot for their well earned HEA.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
