Broken Knight was an emotional and all-around sob inducing, friends to lovers story that will rip you apart and then slowly put you back together again. Luna and Knight’s romantically stunted friendship is all-consuming and more real than anything else in their young lives. Even the most genuine of friendships would not be able to survive the heartbreak that Luna and Knight will unintentionally put each other through. But, a connection like theirs can never be completely severed, no matter how much the hurt will never seem to stop coming…
Luna has always been seen as the weird best friend of Knight Cole who he will protect at any cost. Suffering from an anxiety disorder that renders her mute, Luna does her best to not let her silence hide her good heart and her inner strength from the world. Her loyalty to Knight has been absolute, but when she has finally had enough of his playing hot and cold with their friendship, Luna decides it is finally time for her to make the biggest life change she has ever attempted in her sheltered existence…
Knight is a high school football god and girl magnet with a huge secret. With his proclivity to make some terrible decisions regarding his attraction to his best friend, Knight and Luna’s friendship is changing before their eyes. Drinking and popping pills on the regular, Knight is in a downward spiral worse than it’s ever been before. And then life just keeps handing him lemons…
Get ready to cry… repeatedly. As I sit here with my still puffy eyes, I realize this book is going to stick with me for a very long time. Without giving any part of the plot away, I just want to note that part of this book hit very close to home for me and it was very difficult for me to read, so my crying might have been much more extreme than yours… but you. will. cry.
Knight and Luna have a very damaged, yet painfully pure relationship. At the heart of it, they care for each other genuinely and without limits, but when life as they know it starts to unravel, it is the decisions they make during that time that will impact them forever. These characters aren’t pristine and flawless, they are damaged, and often times juvenile, and broken beyond repair, but they are also perfect… for each other.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
