In the Unlikely Event was a fascinatingly peculiar and all-around-fabulous read. Rory and Mal find the love of their lives at an impossible time, but separated by distance and eight long years, the connection they once shared is bound to have fizzled into nothing, or it’s become just as unmanageable as ever…

Rory is an American who travels alone to Ireland at the age of 18, and can never truly put the things she experienced there behind her. And even with her and Mal’s ridiculous agreement to be together should fate bring them back in each others lives, Rory believes that she will never see him again… until he shows up in NYC and it’s like her past has finally come for her… and he wants her to travel back to where they once fell in love…

Mal has been keeping too many secrets, and after harboring a resentment toward Rory, he starts to realize that things may not actually be as they seem. And now that he has Rory back in Ireland, no job, or boyfriend, or any other circumstance is going to come between them…

I loved this book so much!! There were definitely some refreshingly odd parts (napkin POV, anyone?!), an excellent storyline and well written, multi-faceted characters, with so many secrets being kept, you never knew what was going to come out next! Rory and Mal’s love story wasn’t an easy road, with countless deceptions and outside interference always working against them, it might just take a little outside intervention and power outages to lead them where they need to be…
