Head-Tripped was an all encompassing story of two musicians who quickly fall in love, but soon realize how little they really know about each other. Effie and Elias bond over music and attraction, but with each step they take deeper into relationship territory, the more their darkest and most damaging secrets will come out…

Whew. Ok, this is a hard one for me to review. First, let me say that I really loved the premise for this story and after reading (and loving!) the other two books in the Ad Agency series, I was super excited to read this one as well. But in the end, this book just didn’t deliver for me like I was hoping it would. In fact, I didn’t feel like this book had any real tie in to the “Ad Agency” or any of the rest of the series, other than some character overlap.

Effie was a hard character to like. I really respected her recovery, but her personality never reflected anything but odd and manic behavior. She makes really bad decisions… all the time… and yet, no one ever really acknowledges how badly her decisions affect everyone else. She is painfully awkward socially, which is explained later, but it still did little to sway me over to team Effie.

Elias just kind of seemed like a douche. Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever used that word in a review… yikes! But, I did love his devotion to his “mom” and his band. I couldn’t stand the way he walks away when a situation got tough or on the flip side, the easy forgiveness he gives when something would go wrong.

Ok, and now my biggest issue of all… the constant stereotype abuse. I am not someone who is easily offended, but I felt this book was equally insulting to anyone and everyone, from a person of color, to someone who is gay or even someone with special needs!! It is also rare for me to dislike every single character in a book… but I think I walked away from this one doing just that.

Well, there you have it. Two stars because I think the writing in itself is very good, and the plot was an interesting one… but everything else about this book just wasn’t for me.
