No Prince was the gritty and fractious love/hate romance set in the rough neighborhoods of Dayton high school. Monroe and Zepp’s depressing and often times hard existence is the backdrop for their tumultuous and fierce love story.
Monroe can’t wait for the day that she can leave Dayton behind. With a life that had dealt her one hard blow after another, her only focus is on getting through her last year of high school and leaving everything she hates behind her in the rearview mirror. But when she attracts the attention of Zepp, her plans as she knows them will never be the same…
Zepp is the reigning king of the hallways in Dayton high. Girls fall all over themselves to have their chance with him and the boys fear him… but Zepp cares for nothing that any one of his peers has to offer… until Monroe. With her feisty spirit and tough girl attitude, she is unlike any girl he has ever met. But she also drives him absolutely crazy… and he can’t wait to show her just what the does to him…
While I enjoyed this plot and the concept for this book, there were definitely some aspects that left me scratching my head. Monroe and Zepp are both having a hard time growing up in a world where they are forced to fend for themselves. But where Monroe wants to move on with her life and find something better, Zepp has zero drive to make a better life for himself. Their relationship itself is filled with a lot of anger and misunderstanding, but their love for each other does what it can to break through all of the drama.
