4.5 Stars

Aspiring artist and recent college graduate, Elizabeth Brighton is ready to take New York City, and the art world, by storm! But first, she has to marry a veritable stranger at the behest of her family…

Walter Jennings II may be a tad grumpy and unapproachable, but Elizabeth refuses to yield to the cold exterior he displays…. after all, they’re in this marriage together…

To Have and to Hate was a fabulously entertaining read that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face! Elizabeth is talked into a marriage-of-convenience from her (not so) lovable family and finds her new husband Walter to be a quiet workaholic with a frosty exterior. That is, until she completely upends his life, and Elizabeth and Walt’s fake relationship is about to get more real than anything either one of them has ever known…

Elizabeth is a young aspiring artist who wants to help her family and the business they were once involved in, which requires her to marry the now CEO of said business, Walter Jennings II. But when a fake relationship starts to reveal very real and very inconvenient feelings, Elizabeth must do everything she can to protect herself from the heartbreak of loving her husband-in-name-only…

I adored this book so much! Elizabeth was a fantastic character, funny, selfless and sweet, she knew how to hold her own and was driven to succeed as an artist when it feels like the whole world may be against her. I loved the opposites attract romance, and the slow burn love that Elizabeth and Walt (eventually!!!) discover.

In this truly unmissable R.S. Grey read (is there one that ISN’T though?!), I was captivated by this story, the flawless writing, and of course, the intriguing and genuine characters. To put it simply, To Have and to Hate is a must read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
