In a typical JA Huss fashion, this story was completely unlike anything I have ever read. Set in the dark and shadowed world of an underground MMA circuit, there is more than meets the eye when it comes to the rich, powerful, and extremely sick men who control so many innocent lives. Anya and Cort may only be one small part of the organizations masses of acquired children from throughout the years, but they have done what so many have failed before them… survived.

I really enjoyed this book, the plot was fascinating and kept me hooked from its very first pages, and the sexy moments delivered plenty of spice when it was needed most. But I did feel like the romance aspect of the story felt a little overshadowed by training, everyday life on “the rock,” and Cort’s plans after he fulfills his final obligations.

The shared connection between Anya and Cora both being mute was a captivating addition, and I was in awe of the writing skill it took to further a large portion of the story with very little actual dialogue. And when it came to the ending, lets just say that jaw dropping would be an understatement…
