Hateful (Wicked West Rejects #1) by Cora Brent

4 Stars

If Dorothy Ann Gallagher can survive life in the inner city, landing in West Emerald is guaranteed to be a new opportunity and a breath of fresh air. That is, until she meets Gage Silvestro, and his two infuriating cousins…

Hateful was a sexy and intriguing romance set in a modern Wizard of Oz world. When Dorothy Ann “aka Dani” begins her new life in West Emerald City, she has high hopes for a fantastic new beginning. But what she soon realizes is that her new family is full of old secrets and bitter enemies…

I loved this book so much! We meet Dani’s character when she is young and unsure of herself and her place in her new life, and we get to watch her blossom and grow into an amazing woman. She and Gage share a slow burn romance that starts out rocky, and becomes something that she never could have expected…

Gage was a quintessential damaged hero who makes his fair share of mistakes. He and his two cousins are inseparable, and it doesn’t take long for them to realize that Dani is a special addition to their crew of “Wicked West Rejects”.

I was immediately hooked on the setting for this book and what will be the entire Wicked West Rejects series! The creativity involved to build Emerald City in this reimagined Wizard of Oz world was so fantastically done, you could picture the characters and the settings for who they were based after, but the story absolutely held it’s own against the original tale we all know so well.

This book started the rest of the series off with a bang! Dani and Gage may have found each other, but there are two more damaged yet intriguing men in need of finding their very own, and most likely complicated, happily ever afters…

I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
