Beyond the Thistles was a sweet and heartbreaking, slow burn, romantic and suspenseful read! Sloane and Walker share an instant attraction. But every time Sloane makes her interest known, she is met with a cool indifference from the man she not-so-secretly wishes that she could “climb like a tree”…

Sloane was an amazing mom and independent woman. After getting pregnant at a very young age, she had done her best to protect and provide for her daughter, no matter the circumstances. And when she relocated them to the Scottish Highlands, they found a kind of belonging that they had never experienced before…

Walker spent time in the military before he became a bodyguard for a very famous actor. And when his bodyguard job ended, he moved to Ardnoch temporarily… and soon found what he never realized he was missing… a permanent place to call home. 

I enjoyed the individual journeys that both Sloane and Walker experience throughout this book, and of course, I loved the road that brought them together… finally! Walker’s relationship avoidance at long last crumbled in the wake of Sloane’s attempts to get him to stop holding her up on such a pedestal. The sex between them was scorching hot, and although their relationship path was a rocky one, they definitely made up for their time apart in the spiciest of ways!

The Highlands is a new spin-off series from the also fantastic Adair Family series. I absolutely loved getting Sloane and Walker’s story, and I can. not. wait. to see what comes next in this already addictive new series!
