This Much is True was a road trip romance with a pandemic twist! Hope and JR meet each other under the strangest of circumstances, but these two opposites immediately recognize the undeniable attraction between them… along with all the complications of acting on it…
When the city went into lockdown, Hope lost not only her very recently opened restaurant, but also the ability to visit her father in a rehab facility. Struggling to make ends meet with no job prospects in sight, she sells her father’s beloved vintage car, and regrets it immensely. Through a series of mishaps, Hope sticks with the car for awhile, and meets a man who will change absolutely everything.
JR went to prison for a crime he didn’t commit. And now that he has been released early, he vows to get to the bottom of who framed him, and to clear his name. But first, he needs to see his young son who he misses wholeheartedly. Meeting Hope was never in his plans, and bringing her into his mess of a life is a terrible idea, but Hope Eternal does even more than living up to her name, and the idea of letting her go will never be an acceptable conclusion to their distinctive love story…
This book did a fantastic job of capturing the insanity of human experiences during the very current pandemic. Even though it may be “too soon” for some, I felt that this story served as a glimpse of life going on once the world is no longer in the grips of lockdowns and social distancing. Hope and JR shared a sexy connection and sweet relationship, all while they were dealing with their own individual life issues. This book was a fast and entertaining read, and I would love to see more from these characters in the future.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
